Lady in Hat – damaged ink drawing
Black ink on 6-inch x 8-inch blue marbled gloss white cardstock. ♦ 1985
This drawing of a grand old gal in a feather hat got damaged when another piece of paper was set on top of it and then that paper got wet, adhering to the drawing. When it dried, it peeled back some of the paper’s finish when the two sheets were separated, losing parts of the drawing. The greatest appeal of this drawing, even in its damaged state, is that the lady seems to peer staunchly past the loss of detail on her hat, neck, and hair, as if she defies that she is any lesser for it.
